Drafting

Black icon of a magazineAny journalist will tell you that writing is just rewriting and editing. When editing, it's important to fact check information. Call your sources back and double-check that what you wrote down is true for them (including the spelling of their name).

Writing drafts is the best way to look at what kinds of sources may be missing that could better craft your story. When doing so, be sure to give proper citation based on AP Style.

Citation Styles

In journalism you will typically use AP style for your citations and paper formatting. The library has a physical copy of the AP Stylebook and Purdue OWL has handy tips and tricks for AP citations.

The library also provides patrons access to citation management tools to help you stay organized in the research process. If you would like to learn more about citation management tools and how to use them, click the link below.
