Creating and Editing Chapters

Creating Chapters

To create a new chapter, simply click Add Chapter from the Organize page. However, you may not need to create your own chapters, as this may be done for you by the librarians or your instructor. Please check with your instructor if you are not sure.

Editing Chapters

To edit a chapter of your book, hover your mouse over the chapter and click Edit or click on the chapter title to bring up the Visual and Text Editors. When editing content in Pressbooks, you can move between two editor views: the visual editor and the text editor

The visual editor is a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor with a toolbar that allows you to style your text. This editor will emulate the style and display of the published work whenever possible. The visual editor is displayed in the screenshot below.

The text editor shows the HTML view of your chapter. What this means is that you’ll see all the textual content of the chapter, as well as the tags for any added styles and markup. The text editor is displayed in the screenshot below.
