MLA Citation Style

MLA Citation Style was created by the Modern Languages Association and is most commonly used by researchers in the humanities, languages, literature, and cultural studies. In MLA Citation Style you must cite your sources in the body of the paper you are writing using parenthetical citations and at the end of your paper in a Works Cited list.

MLA Handbook

The MLA Handbook is the definitive source for details on citing references and formatting papers in MLA Citation Style. There are several copies available through the UH Libraries and one is always available at the M.D. Anderson Library Service Desk.

Additional MLA Style Resources

If you don't have a copy of the MLA Handbook and can't get to the UH Libraries to borrow a copy, there are lots of online resources available to help you put together in-text citations and a reference list in MLA Citation Style.
