What is Pressbooks?

Pressbooks is an easy-to-use online book writing and publishing software that is provided by the UH Libraries to current UH students, faculty, and staff for publishing open educational resources (OER). It allows you to create online and downloadable books in multiple formats, such as PDF, ePub, and more. Pressbooks is built on the Wordpress software. You can also easily apply an open license to the book as well as to individual chapters.

You can write your content directly in the Pressbooks platform, or you can easily copy and paste, or import content from Microsoft Word, depending on your preference. Several people may work on different chapters within the same book.

How do I access Pressbooks?

Pressbooks can be accessed from the UH Libraries webpage or by visiting uhlibraries.pressbooks.pub. You can browse the UH Pressbooks catalog to view other online books created by UH faculty, staff, and students.
