Teaching Online with Primary Sources

Learn about teaching online using special collections and archival materials

Collaborative Tools

Zoom

  • Zoom's breakout rooms can be effective for inviting small group discussion of digitized primary sources.

Microsoft Teams

  • The ability to share files in Teams (via Sharepoint) can be helpful for sharing digitized primary sources with a class.

BlackBoard (instructor must add the librarian to course as a T.A.)

  • BlackBoard offers the ability to embed a librarian or archivist in the class for interactions with student discussions as well as class sessions.

Special Collections librarians and archivists can work with your class in any of these collaborative tools. Contact Julie Grob at jgrob@uh.edu to get started!
