Finding paper topics
These science and technology magazine websites are a great way to find topics for a paper (and to keep up with the latest developments, news, opinions.) (These don't duplicate the entire content of the magazines which cost anywhere from $10 (Wired) to $72 (New Scientist) for a full subscription.)
Useful databases for this project
For a choice of scholarly and non-scholarly articles use Academic Search Complete.
For full-text of Elsevier journals, the largest publisher of science and technology journals, use ScienceDirect.
To search more targeted engineering resources, search the databases listed in the Research Guide for your major.
Patent Resources
The United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO.gov) is the source for finding official information about the patent process as well as the up to date database for issued and "applied for" patents.
Many web sites provide access to patents, usually subsets of the USPTO. Google Patents, while not comprehensive, provides an easy to use search engine and is a good choice for this assignment.
