What is NVivo?

NVivo is research software that offers an intuitive qualitative data analysis experience to help researchers ask complex questions, discover meaning in their data, and uncover deeper research insights. It is available for both Windows and Mac operating systems.

Why use NVivo?

The program can be used to import text, audio, video, emails, images, spreadsheets, online surveys, web content and centralize data from multiple sources. 

Researchers can also organize and code data to more quickly to identify themes and trends among the core metrics of their analysis, link cases to attribute values such as age and gender to compare different groups, and visualize their data with word frequency charts, word clouds, comparison diagrams.

It is easy to import notes and data directly from Microsoft products such as Excel and Word. Plus, NVivo integrates easily with the programs you use every day. Leverage free integrations for apps like SurveyMonkey, EndNote, and more to centralize your research.

Where can I find NVivo?

Students, faculty, and staff can access NVivo in the Digital Research Commons located in MD Anderson Library. The software is NOT currently available to individuals virtually via VMware Horizon. Individuals can also register for a 14-day free trial or sign up for an individual subscription via the QRS website.

Which version of NVivo does UH Libraries currently use?

UH Libraries currently offers students, faculty, and staff access to NVivo 11 in the Digital Research Commons. ***The software is NOT currently available to individuals virtually via VMware Horizon.***
