Race & Ethnicity in World Perspective

Assignment

Take a concept in race/ethnic relations in which you are interested and analyze the concept in terms of how it operates in 2 different societies or in one society at 2 different time periods.

 

Paper Format

Papers must be 16-pages minimum with references in ASA Style.

  • State the topic of your study, issue, or concept and define it.
  • Discuss why it is relevant to the study of race/ethnic relations in a cross-national perspective. Your review of literature should occur here. (3-5 pgs.)
  • Apply the concept to the societies that you are discussing and analyze them from the different sociological levels of analysis (distributive, organizational, & social psychological). Discuss what is know about the condition and operation of the concept in each society or each time period in that society. Incorporate appropriate literature. (8-10 pgs.)
  • Compare and contrast the operation of the concept in the different societies and synthesize the information so as to draw a conclusion about the concept functions. This can be part of your concluding remarks. (5-8 pgs.)
