Music Resources

Searching for Books

The advanced catalog search function will yield more focused search results when locating resources in the UH Library Catalog.

Search Tips:

  • To narrow your search to books only, limit by material type.
  • Looking for a book about a specific composer?
    • The ML410s are where you'll find composer biographies, organized by last name.  For example, biographies about Beethoven have call numbers that start with ML410 .B4, biographies about Mozart start with ML410 .M9, etc.
  • You can link between books on the same topic by scrolling to the bottom of a catalog record and clicking on the subject headings to see other books on the same topic.

To search for books at other libraries, use WorldCat. You can then request items you find  in WorldCat via InterLibrary Loan.
