Different disciplines use different citation styles. For example, for citing works in the psychology discipline, the American Psychological Association (APA) style is commonly used. However, for the sociology discipline both APA and the American Sociology Association (ASA) style may be used as well.
It is important to consult your professor about the style you should use to prepare your manuscript. For graduate students and others who are preparing a manuscript for publication, make sure to consult the publisher's website for citation style information.
